Casino el Camino in Austin is a really unique place. Gargoyles on on the wall, Patsy Kline on the jukebox, 70s horror films like Jaws playing on a couple of TVs with closed captioning turned on, heavily tatoo's and pierced bartenders, and the best burgers you can find cooked in a small kitchen in the back. This guy has been making the best burgers in austin for years. See him in action at the casino el camino on 6th street.

girl swinging
Posted on 12:49 PM by Unknown
this is at the Old San Francisco Steak House in Austin. The place is built to look like an old western saloon. There's a stage at the front of the main dining room. On one side, a guy plays the piano, and in the middle hangs a swing. From the ceiling to the floor of the stage must be about 30 feet. There are two cowbells on the ceiling, one on each side of the stage. Once an hour, a girl climbs up onto the swing, straps herself in, and swings until she gets high enough to kick the bells. I have a couple more pics and a 2 minute video I took with my cell phone that I'll post later. For now, i can only post text and one pic at a time here from my cell.
Haven't figured out the video part yet.. Here's another pic:

Gallopalooza

Statues of elaborately painted horses can be seen around Louisville. This is one of many. They are part of the Gallopalooza art exhibition and honor past winners of the Kentucky Derby. Pic via phone cam.

Doofus Napping 23.5/7
Posted on 12:29 PM by Unknown
Doofus needs alot of rest, and he gets it. He's up for about 30 minutes in the morning, waits on me to sit on the couch to put on my shoes but doesn't wait on me to get them on. He nuzzles his head between my knees and wants me to pet, scratch, and massage his head and ears. I'm happy to oblige. Then he lays down on one of his big, fluffy pillows and goes back to sleep. He wakes up o_c_c_a_s_i_o_n_a_l_l_y during the day.

This is a pic of Roger (from LAGERS homebrew club) sparging in his kitchen. I went to his house for my very first brewday which was January 1, 2005. My stuff is not pictured, and unfortunately I didn't get a picture of it.

New Year's fireworks
Posted on 12:13 PM by Unknown
Billy from Austin came to visit for a week after Christmas. He got herein time to have two days of snow just right for sledding and snowballs, then it started to melt... and then to rain.
We went to New Albany, Indiana to buy fireworks (couldn't find them anywhere in Louisville)... got there just before they closed and were able to grab these... not much, but for 4 kids (one of which.. Susanna.. runs away from sparklers), it was enough to keep them celebrating the new year for a couple of hours.
