Stumbling Block by Paul Kelly
Posted on 9:42 AM by Unknown
I love this song by an Australian named Paul Kelly. It has been my favorite for about a year, and I still love it every time it comes on. The singer describes it as "the history of philosophy in 3 and half minutes," but I see it as an awesome description of sometimes reality set to a bluesy folk bluegrass tune. Beautiful!
I discovered the song after creating a station on Pandora to follow a group that I thought had some great modern folk songs with clawhammer banjo. The station is Mac Benford & the Woodshed Allstars, and there are a ton of great folk musicians that cycle through that station.

Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
I can't get around it
and I can't get through it
I can't go over it
and I can't go under it
I'm scared of what I might find if I ever get behind it
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
If I wait for awhile, it just might go away
I suppose I should get down on my knees and pray
I'm sure if I got one good night's sleep, it'd look better in the day
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Maybe I should pay someone to come here and remove it
or I could just chip away at it bit by little bit
I guess I could build me a bomb and blow it up in one big hit
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Some of my friends say I should call in the mistics
or find me a philosopher to come here and say it don't exist
then there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Lord, I've hit a stumbling block
If I ever get done with this, I'll make a brand new start
I gotta get my thinkin straight and put the horse before the cart
If I had the balls, I'd wrap this thing up in plastic and call it art!
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
I'm gonna call up every TV station
maybe the Museum of Science is looking for a special donation
I could sell tickets, drag it on tour, all around the whole god damn nation
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Stumbling Block
Lord, I've hit a stumbling block

moving blog posts again
Posted on 3:24 PM by Unknown
I should be getting good at it by now. I think this will be the 4th or 5th time I package up all my blog posts since I started playing around with it back in 2004. I've grown sick of Wordpress software and the frequent need to update. Plus Google is getting to the point where it has just about everything a typical user needs under one roof, for free, no need to update, access from any computer anywhere, all you need is a browser... so I'm planning to convert johnlittle.com to the Google Sites platform and converting most of the old Wordpress posts to a Blogger platform with an address of blog.johnlittle.com. It'll take me a little while. I did an archive at banjolawyer.wordpress.com (deleting posts there as I add them here, working from oldest to most recent). I know I have a HUGE following, and everyone will want to what's happening, so there you have it. :-)

Priscilla sent me this and said it gave her the chills when she watched it. Check it out. I'd like to join a flash mob in Auburn....

in fairness to Cam
Posted on 8:08 PM by Unknown
My friend Rich Edmundson from Huntsville wrote this on the Rocket City Brewers message board today, and I thought it was excellent:
In fairness to Cam,
1. He bought a stolen laptop. May have known it was stolen or may not have, but he didn't steal it.
2. FERPA says that any academic records are privileged, and UF apparently provided a clean transcript when Cam chose to transfer.
3. Cam was recruited by Oklahoma, Tennessee, MSU, and Auburn. 3 of the 4 say there was no pay for play request. The one who says there was has a former player who's a noted liar who arranged the whole deal with Mr. Newton. Seems odd that he'd only leave any evidence of pay for play at 1 school if he was asking for it at 4.
I admit it's odd, but Cam's not driving an Escalade with 24" spinners or a new Dodge Charger with tinted windows (he does have a tricked out scooter though), and the NCAA didn't find any evidence of payments to Cam, his dad, or his dad's church despite their own investigators and half the sports journalists in the country's best effort.
I won't say he didn't get anything, but given the witch hunt that went on for the last month if he did get something significant surely someone would have found it.
Anyway, who cares. SCOREBOARD BITCHES!!!
Any of you have a recipe for Cammy Cam Juice?
